We're working exclusively with a leading integrated design and build contractor in the water sector to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for a significant, long-term site-based programme in the North West. The role sits at the heart of a £200m upgrade programme for a major water utility client, including substantial works at a large wastewater treatment facility near Manchester. This is a well-funded, long-running programme - not a short-term engagement - with a strong commercial team already in place around you.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead on site, you'll take ownership of several key packages within the programme and provide genuine commercial and contractual support to the wider site team. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Applications, valuations and cost value reconciliation across your allocated accounts
  • Cost control and forecasting - feeding into weekly and monthly reports covering value, cost, P&L and cash flow
  • Supply chain management, including preparing subcontract enquiries, negotiating and setting up contracts
  • Contract management across all relevant forms, budgetary controls and software
  • Risk and value management, with involvement in mentoring the wider project team
  • Ongoing liaison with site teams, subcontractors and client representatives
  • Providing contractual advice to the site team as and when required

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • RICS membership or actively working towards APC
  • Experience working within a main contractor environment

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in the water or wastewater sector
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts

The Package

£48,000 - £54,000 basic salary, £4,700 car allowance, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (with the option to buy 5 more), contributory pension scheme, private medical insurance, life assurance, hybrid working where the role allows.

If this sounds like the right move, get in touch for a confidential conversation about the role and the client.
