We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join a growing Managed Service Provider and take ownership of the proactive, cloud and security-focused side of the technical environment.

Working within a small, highly skilled engineering team, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of technologies while helping clients improve their infrastructure, security and overall IT performance.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will support and develop clients' cloud, network and security environments while working closely with the wider support team to maintain excellent service levels and drive continuous improvement.

  • Senior Cloud Engineer Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, support and improve client cloud infrastructure and security environments.
  • Create scripts and automation to improve cloud deployments and reporting, particularly within Share Point.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex firewall and networking queries.
  • Configure, test and deploy updates to firewalls, routers and associated network infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate security, network and infrastructure documentation.
  • Support and develop Microsoft 365, Conditional Access, Share Point and MDM environments.
  • Work with third-party suppliers to deliver technical services and solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their technical requirements and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Manage multiple client requirements and technical projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies, product releases, licensing and pricing changes.
  • Understand solution costs, engineering time and commercial considerations to ensure clients receive strong ROI.
  • Support the wider engineering team by sharing knowledge and improving technical standards.
  • Senior Cloud Engineer Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with

  • Strong experience working within an IT support / MSP environment.
  • Good knowledge of enterprise firewalls - Forti Gate/Fortinet experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 / Office 365 knowledge.
  • Experience with Conditional Access and Share Point administration.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM).
  • Strong understanding of networking, firewalls and routers.
  • Excellent Windows hardware and infrastructure troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience responding to or supporting cybersecurity incidents and breaches.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical tasks.
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders to deliver technical solutions.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
  • Power BI knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Relevant technical certifications are desirable, although demonstrable experience and a commitment to continually developing your technical knowledge are equally important.
  • Working Pattern

This is an office-based position in London, working 40 hours per week during core hours of 09:00-17:30.

There is a four-week rota covering an 08:00 start, together with occasional Saturday emergency support for a small number of key clients.

Some travel and working from client locations may also be required.

What's On Offer

This is an opportunity to join a smaller organisation where you can have genuine ownership and influence over the technical environment rather than becoming one engineer within a large team.

You'll have the opportunity to

  • Develop your skills across new and emerging technologies.
  • Take ownership of cloud, infrastructure and security improvements.
  • Work directly with clients and senior management.
  • Influence technical standards, processes and future technology decisions.
  • Progress with the business, with genuine long-term opportunities to move into senior leadership and potentially Director-level positions.
  • Access a flexible benefits package, including options such as medical cover and other salary-related benefits.

If you're an experienced Cloud Engineer looking for greater technical ownership, broader exposure and the opportunity to make a real impact within a growing MSP, we'd like to hear from you.

How to prepare for a job interview at Gold Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Gold Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
