Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer (Water Bias), you will oversee maintenance of mechanical systems with emphasis on water-related infrastructure. You join a large facilities management team in Westminster and collaborate with supervisors and subcontractors to deliver high-quality service. You will handle planned and reactive maintenance while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a government-facing environment. This role offers hands-on work with water, plumbing, and HVAC systems and a clear path to professional development within a supportive team. You will contribute to a stable, standards-driven operation and play a key role in ensuring reliable building services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems including domestic and closed water systems, plumbing, air conditioning, and pressure systems
  • Provide first line response to reactive callouts, ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with approved codes of practice
  • Assist with building fabric and electrical systems maintenance as required
  • Collaborate with engineering supervisor and specialist subcontractors to deliver high-quality service

Key requirements

  • L8 qualified with City and Guilds or equivalent NVQ in plumbing and mechanical engineering
  • Experience in building services and the 18th Edition Test and Inspection
  • Practical with good common sense and ability to work well with diverse teams
  • Full clean driving licence plus current or ability to gain CTC clearance
  • Able to act on own initiative and deliver work to high standards safely
  • This role requires CTC clearance due to the government environment
