The Estimator will play a key role in pricing capital projects across the region to ensure reliable, safe water supplies are maintained to homes and businesses whilst protecting the environment. Note that previous experience working as an estimator within the UK's water sector is essential for this position. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background, particularly in first principles estimating, who wants to take ownership of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across essential water infrastructure projects. The role is predominantly remote, with travel to the company's office required around 5-6 times per year. The Role The Estimator will be responsible for pricing and securing work across water and wastewater capital programmes, working closely with operational, commercial and supply chain teams to produce accurate, competitive and commercially robust tenders. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions. Developing estimates using first principles methodologies. Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation. Measuring quantities and producing detailed pricing schedules. Obtaining, analysing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations. Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and potential value engineering solutions. Supporting bid submissions and working collaboratively with operational and commercial colleagues. Ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive and aligned with project requirements. About You I'm keen to speak with Estimators who understand the demands of pricing infrastructure projects and can demonstrate a methodical, commercially focused approach to building accurate estimates. The successful Estimator must be able to demonstrate experience in the following areas: Experience in estimating within the water and wastewater sector, ideally on capital infrastructure projects. The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation. Experience measuring quantities and developing detailed cost build-ups. Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills. Good working knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office. The communication skills needed to liaise with operational teams, suppliers and subcontractors. A relevant construction qualification or equivalent industry experience. Experience in working in the UK's water sector is essential. What's on Offer? Salary of £50,000-£70,000, depending on experience. Company car or car allowance. 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays. Contributory pension scheme. Private healthcare. Discretionary bonus scheme. Employee assistance programme and 24/7 online GP service. Life assurance and additional health and wellbeing benefits. Access to a range of employee discounts and salary sacrifice schemes. Predominantly remote working, with just 5-6 office visits per year. Interested? If you're an Estimator with water sector experience and a strong grounding in first principles estimating, I'd be keen to have a confidential conversation.
