Contract Role - In Scope

Duration - Initially 3 months

Locations - Either Bristol, London, Newcastle or York - Hybrid role 3 days in the office

My client is a government body responsible for improving and protecting the environment who are seeking 3 experienced Electronics & Electricals Experts / Electronics Sustainability Consultants to join a team that plays a key role in transforming the UK's approach to electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), recycling, reuse, and sustainability. This is a unique opportunity for an industry specialist from the electronics, recycling, reuse, remanufacturing, or environmental sectors to influence national policy and help deliver long-term circular economy objectives across the UK.

You will work alongside policy, technical and delivery specialists to develop innovative solutions around WEEE, batteries, end-of-life vehicles, tyres, and wider electricals policy reform.

The Role

As the Electronics & Electricals Expert / Electronics Sustainability Consultant you will provide specialist insight and practical expertise to support the development and delivery of the client's economy policies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise on electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), including collection, repair, reuse and recycling systems
  • Supporting policy development and implementation
  • Advising on strategies to improve circularity, repairability, reuse and recycling outcomes
  • Developing evidence-based policy proposals and recommendations for senior stakeholders and ministers
  • Engaging with manufacturers, recyclers, repair networks, regulators and industry bodies
  • Supporting innovation and introducing new approaches to improve EEE recycling and reuse systems
  • Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary policy team
  • Sharing industry expertise and helping to upskill Civil Servants through mentoring and technical guidance

As the Electronics Expert you should have experience in:

  • Electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)
  • WEEE compliance, recycling, repair or reuse systems
  • Circular economy initiatives
  • Remanufacturing and product life extension
  • Sustainable materials management
  • Environmental or sustainability programmes

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience developing strategic or operational solutions
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • The ability to translate technical information into practical recommendations
  • Strategic thinking and programme-level awareness
  • A collaborative and innovative approach
