A leading infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the delivery of several capital water projects for a major water provider covering the South West. Based out of Bristol, this role will involve managing projects located locally and along the M5 corridor heading South. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior QS who enjoys taking ownership of projects from inception through to final account, whilst also supporting the development of junior commercial staff and working closely with the client.
Reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of multiple projects, typically valued from £5m to £20m. This will include upgrades to wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and reservoirs.
Some of the Senior Quantity Surveyor's key responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management across the lifecycle of projects
- Procurement and subcontract management
- Cost forecasting and reporting
- Change management and compensation events
- Managing client applications and valuations
- Final accounts and commercial close out
- Supporting and mentoring a junior Quantity Surveyor
- Working closely with operational teams to drive commercial performance
Requirements:
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the UK's utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering sectors.
- Previous experience administering NEC contracts
- Strong commercial reporting and cost management skills
- Ability to manage projects independently
- Water sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Full UK driving licence
