An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a complex, long-term programme of work at Sellafield as part of the UK's nuclear decommissioning and waste processing programme.
The Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take on a senior commercial role working across a number of complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects. Your responsibilities will span the full project life cycle from procurement and tendering through to subcontractor management and settlement of final accounts. The position requires regular presence at Sellafield (3 days per week), with flexibility for office or remote working on remaining days.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end commercial management of engineering construction work packages
- Cost management, forecasting and commercial reporting across complex projects
- NEC contract administration, including change control and pricing of compensation events
- Preparation of applications for payment and monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Subcontract procurement and management of subcontractor packages
- Administration of subcontract accounts through to final account
- Maintaining accurate cost forecasts, audits and financial reporting
- Stakeholder management across client, supply chain and internal teams
- Use of CEMAR and adherence to governance, assurance and audit requirements
- Identifying opportunities for value engineering, efficiency and digital/LEAN improvement
- Line management, mentoring and development of junior commercial staff
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in engineering construction, energy, utilities or nuclear projects, comfortable working in a regulated environment. You will ideally have:
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered status (MRICS / MCInstCES / MCIOB) or actively working towards
- Strong NEC4 contract experience
- Experience on large-scale engineering construction or industrial projects
- Previous exposure to nuclear, energy, power generation or utilities environments (desirable)
- Strong Excel capability (including formulas and pivot tables)
- Experience leading or mentoring junior commercial staff
- A proactive, organised and analytical approach
Essential requirements:
- Ability to pass BPSS / DBS security clearance
- Right to work in the UK
- Clean driving licence
- CSCS card (Professional Qualified Person)
