An exciting opportunity has arisen within a busy manufacturing and engineering organisation for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Stores Department on a 6-month Contract.
This varied role supports both the Goods Inwards Inspector and Stores team, ensuring that materials are accurately received, inspected, and managed in line with company procedures. You will play an important part in maintaining quality and traceability across mechanical and electrical components, working closely with colleagues in supply chain, planning, and production.
Key Responsibilities of the Warehouse Operator- Carry out basic inspection of raw materials, electrical components, and purchased assemblies against company and/or customer standards and drawings.
- Measure and verify key dimensions on incoming fabricated and machined parts.
- Record, retain, and retrieve test and inspection data as required.
- Support supply chain and production teams by advising on quality standards and non-conformance issues.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve material or documentation discrepancies.
- Assist with stores operations, including goods receipt, storage, and stock control.
- Operate lifting and handling equipment such as forklifts, company vehicles, and cranes (training provided if required).
- Manage the issue and return of materials to production, ensuring accurate recording on the company ERP system.
- Help identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce supply chain delays.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, grade A*–C / 9–4.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering stores environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality inspection procedures.
- Familiarity with ERP or stock management systems.
- Reach forklift licence and/or overhead crane operation experience (training can be provided).
- Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) awareness – desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a proactive attitude.
- Team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Security Clearance (SC) or eligibility to gain is required to be considered for this vacancy.
