Location: Huddersfield – 4 days on-site
Duration: 12 months
Rate: £44.45 per hour – OUTSIDE IR35
Stress Engineer needed on contract to join our client, an established aerospace & defence engineering consultancy operating on-site in Huddersfield.
As a Stress Engineer you will be responsible for performing stress and structural analyses to ensure the integrity and performance of the design meets all required standards, so a strong mathematical emphasis is required.
**Please note this role would require eligibility for UK SC Clearance – Sole UK Nationals Only**
What the role of the Stress Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Stress Engineer will include:
- The ability to plan and execute tasks to achieve timescales and costs in conjunction of designated KPI’s
- The ability to own problems and provide pragmatic engineering solutions to challenging timescales and budgets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative design solutions that meet customer requirements and project objectives.
- Attend PDR, DDR reviews to provide detail report
- Generate detailed technical reports and documentation to communicate analysis results and recommendations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to support the development and improvement.
- Conduct thorough Analysis and investigations of non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and failure mode analysis.
- Monitor and track the progress of corrective actions, ensuring timely completion and effectiveness.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve non-conformance issues and improve overall product quality.
- Maintain accurate documentation of non-conformance reports, investigations, and corrective actions.
What experience you need to be the successful Stress Engineer:
Required Skills (Technical Competency):
- Proficient in Stress Analysis packages (ex : ANSYS, MSC NASTRAN, Altair HyperMesh), ideally ANSYS
- Experience in the analysis of complex engineering structures
- Expert knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) techniques for static analysis
- Proficient knowledge of numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis
- Experience in structural Analysis of mechanical components, parts, assemblies and subassemblies for heavy industry, power transmission systems, gear and Gear box
- Candidate should be familiar with structural analysis practices and methodologies, including significant structural redesigns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
