South West Water's long-term infrastructure framework is delivering a 5 year programme of upgrades across Somerset. The contractor running it is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take commercial ownership of a varied portfolio of projects along the M5 corridor. This is a genuinely stable opportunity. The framework is secured, the pipeline of work is confirmed, and the business has an established team already delivering work across the region.
As a key member of the commercial team, the Quantity Surveyor will be working across pipework installation, bulk earthworks, civils upgrades, and tank and processing equipment replacement, with the added responsibility of supporting and mentoring a Graduate QS.
The Quantity Surveyor will manage the full commercial lifecycle across multiple concurrent projects, from tender through to final account, with a strong focus on NEC contract administration and proactive commercial management.
Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-end commercial management of infrastructure projects
- NEC contract administration, including change control and compensation event management
- Cost forecasting, budget control and commercial reporting
- Procurement and subcontractor management
- Collaborating closely with operational teams to maximise commercial performance
- Mentoring and supporting a Graduate QS through day-to-day commercial activity
About You:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities or civils
- Solid working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively alongside operational and client-facing teams
- Commercially sharp, self-sufficient, and collaborative by nature
Package:
- Starting salary of £46,000 to £55,000
