The Role

As an Electrical Wirer, you will be responsible for the assembly, wiring and testing of electrical components, looms and control panels in line with engineering drawings, build documentation and customer standards. You will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standards within a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wire and assemble electrical components, control panels and cable looms to engineering drawings and build instructions
  • Install cable looms and harnesses across a range of electrical assemblies
  • Carry out crimping, soldering, lacing and termination activities to required standards
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and electrical layout drawings
  • Work with a variety of connector types, conduit systems, trunking and cable management solutions
  • Conduct functional, continuity and insulation testing of completed assemblies (training provided where required)
  • Complete manufacturing and quality documentation including MITPs, Traveller Documents, FAIRs and QARs
  • Work to IPC-620 standards and internal build procedures
  • Maintain compliance with all quality, health & safety, environmental and security procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Wirer within a regulated engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working to MOD, IPC-620 or DEF-STAN wiring standards
  • Ability to follow detailed electrical drawings and build instructions accurately
  • Competent using hand tools, test equipment and manufacturing documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • IPC-620 Certification

Desirable Experience

  • Previous aerospace or defence industry experience
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices
  • Experience working on high-integrity or mission-critical systems
