We are seeking an experienced Regional Planning Engineer to join a well-established and respected contractor with a strong and secure pipeline of work across the South West and South Wales. This is a pivotal regional position, taking ownership of the planning function across multiple live projects and acting as a key link between site teams, commercial teams and senior leadership.
You will be heavily involved in live, site-based projects, providing hands-on planning support, developing and maintaining robust programmes, and ensuring planning best practice is embedded across the region. This role offers a high level of autonomy and influence, making it ideal for a planner who enjoys being close to delivery and driving real project outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Planning Engineer looking to step into a senior regional role and play a central part in the successful delivery of projects across the South West and South Wales. This is a hybrid role offering flexible working, the week will be split between office, remote working and live sites.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the planning function across multiple live projects within the region
- Develop, manage and maintain detailed construction programmes using Asta Powerproject
- Work closely with site teams to monitor progress, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide programme input from pre-construction through to project completion
- Ensure programmes align with NEC contract requirements, including change management, compensation events and progress reporting
- Support project teams with short-term lookaheads, progress updates and recovery planning
- Provide clear programme reporting to senior management and key stakeholders
- Challenge methods, sequencing and logic to drive efficiency and programme certainty
- Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes and regional best practice
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer or Senior Planner within a main contracting environment
- Strong site-based experience with a hands-on, delivery-focused approach
- Excellent working knowledge of NEC contracts and associated planning and programme obligations
- Advanced user of Asta Powerproject
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently while influencing teams across a regional portfolio
- Salary up to circa £95,000 per annum
- Annual car allowance £7,000
- Hybrid flexible working
- 28 day annual leave plus bank holidays
