An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading, highly reputable infrastructure and utilities contractor on a significant civil engineering project in South East London. This role offers a structured career path, an excellent work-life balance and the opportunity to quickly become an integral member of the project team. You will initially focus on the design phase before transitioning to a substantial 5-year construction programme in January 2026.

As the site Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the effective procurement and commercial management of subcontractors, from initial contract negotiation and risk assessment to final account settlement. Your key duties will include:

  • Working closely with the project delivery team throughout all stages of the construction project.
  • Contract administration (NEC suite of contracts, particularly NEC3 or NEC4).
  • Proactive change management through Early Warning and Variation processes, ensuring value and margin with both clients and subcontractors.
  • Production and/or support with the creation of CVRs, applications for payment, and cost forecasts.
  • Providing valuable support and mentorship to junior Quantity Surveyors within the team.
  • Contributing to cost control, budget management, and financial reporting.

Quantity Surveyors considering this opportunity will need to have:

  • A minimum of 4 years' proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the utilities sector, civil engineering industry, or infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience working in a main contracting environment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, particularly NEC contracts (NEC3, NEC4) or similar (e.g., IChemE).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to commute reasonably to the project site in Bexley, South East London.
  • A methodical approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
