A leading UK infrastructure specialist delivering complex highways and civil engineering projects is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team in Preston. The company's reputation for technical excellence, safety, and social value has positioned it as a key delivery partner on major frameworks across the UK's road network for clients including National Highways and various local authorities.
Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will manage all commercial and financial aspects of highway maintenance and civil engineering projects across the North West. The position demands control of cost, risk, and contract administration to ensure delivery within budget and in compliance with NEC frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and commercial forecasts
- Conduct monthly CVR reconciliations of cost and value
- Prepare and submit accurate applications for payment and final accounts
- Price and submit quotations for maintenance works and compensation events
- Administer subcontract procurement, valuations, and payments
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks
- Advise on claims, cost overruns, and variations in project scope
- Ensure scheme costs are accurately recorded in internal cost systems
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams
- Attend internal and external progress meetings as required
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification/experience
- Proven experience administering NEC3/4 contracts within civil engineering or highways environments
