Are you an experienced structural engineer with a passion for maritime innovation? We are seeking a Maritime Structural Engineer to lead multidisciplinary work streams and guide engineering teams in the delivery of a high-profile, multi-year maritime defence project.
About Us: In this pivotal role, you will use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to model and assess the structural response of submarine propulsors under quasi-static and dynamic conditions. You will develop and review FEA models, technical reports, and design documentation, and approve work packages and drawings.
The Role:
- Lead and coordinate engineering activities, applying technical expertise and sound judgement to deliver projects within scope, time, and budget.
- Mentor and share expertise with engineering teams to build capability.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and ensure compliance with relevant processes and standards.
- Engage with partners and stakeholders to develop joint technical approaches, support business development, and represent the team in forums and customer meetings.
- Ensure safe project delivery, identifying hazards and providing options to reduce risk to as low as reasonably practicable.
- Apply governance consistently across technical programmes and act as a peer or independent reviewer where appropriate.
What are we looking for in our next Maritime Structural Engineer?
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles.
- Substantial experience of structural design to recognised codes of practice (Maritime or Civil).
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis of structures and systems.
- Proficiency in FEA software (ideally Abaqus).
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- BEng / MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
