The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled PCB Layout Technician to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, layout, and documentation of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for a wide range of electronic products. The ideal candidate will have experience using Altium Designer and a strong understanding of PCB manufacturing and assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout multi-layer PCBs using Altium Designer
- Interpret schematic diagrams and translate them into manufacturable board layouts
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimize board layouts for performance, cost, and manufacturability
- Prepare all relevant manufacturing documentation, including Gerber files, BOMs, and assembly drawings
- Conduct design rule checks (DRC) and electrical rule checks (ERC) to ensure quality and compliance
- Work closely with suppliers and fabricators to support PCB prototyping and production
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Experience and Background:
- Proven experience in PCB layout and design, ideally in a production or R&D environment
- Proficiency with Altium Designer (essential)
- Strong knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and datasheets
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-7351) is a plus
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with high-speed digital and/or RF layouts
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI design considerations
- Background in electronics or electrical engineering
