Our client, an established engineering services consultancy, require an experienced Calibration Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working on-site in Huddersfield.
UK citizenship is mandatory to be able to clear the background checks and obtain SC clearance. Current valid SC clearance would be an advantage.
What the role of the Calibration Engineer entails:
- Provide daily leadership of all Calibration related activities in the business.
- Support maintenance and governance of the ISO 9001:2015 Management systems alongside customer and legislative requirements, ensuring its continuing effectiveness by formal systematic auditing in the function.
- Support the monitoring of the organisations Quality, policies and practices being implemented consistently across the function and verifying compliance to applicable legislation, regulations, standards, and customer requirements is maintained.
- Management of the calibration department, processes, and procedures.
- Calibration of measuring equipment using known master gauges in a temperature controlled clean environment.
- Management and liaison with 3rd party accredited calibration laboratories and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to calibrate measuring equipment onsite and offsite.
- Working with departments leaders to research, assess and procure the most suitable type and brands of measuring equipment accounting for accuracy, ease of use and cost effectiveness.
What experience you need to be the successful Calibration Engineer:
- Experience in ISO9001:2015 or equivalent Management systems.
- Apprenticeship in related field of study (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent), experience in a discipline of all or some of the following – Calibration, Quality, Quality Control.
- Experience of working in an Engineering environment.
- Auditor certified to ISO9001:2015 or equivalent.
- Experience in a quality control role with strong dimensional and analytical skills.
- Experience of reading and understanding detailed mechanical drawings, and Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T) is essential.
- Experience of high tolerances, complex components, and both metric and imperial measurement systems.
- Experience in manufacturing inspection, final inspection, goods inwards inspection, or similar experience.
- Knowledge or experience of calibrating measuring equipment.
- Experience in industry standard measurement systems and measurement methodologies in mechanical engineering or manufacturing related industries.
- Computer literate with use of Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
