We are recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support a portfolio of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) systems used within clinical laboratory environments. While this position sits firmly within the IVD market, we welcome applications from engineers with backgrounds in medical devices, laboratory automation, or life sciences instrumentation who are looking to move into diagnostics.
The Role
As part of a highly respected field service organisation, you will:
- Install, commission, service, and repair advanced IVD laboratory instruments
- Carry out preventative maintenance and respond efficiently to breakdowns
- Diagnose and resolve complex electro-mechanical, software, and system faults
- Support customers in hospital and pathology laboratory settings with a professional, customer-focused approach
- Deliver user training and technical guidance to optimise system performance
- Collaborate closely with internal technical support, engineering, and logistics teams
The ideal location for this role is Worcester, Stratford-upon-Avon, Gloucester, or Cheltenham, however the service territory extends beyond this area.
About You
- Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer within IVD, medical devices, laboratory automation, or life sciences instrumentation
- Strong technical capability across electronics, mechanics, and software-controlled systems
- The ability to work independently while maintaining high service standards
- Confidence working in regulated clinical or laboratory environments
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel within a regional territory
- Previous IVD experience is beneficial but not essential, strong transferable instrumentation experience and the right attitude are key.
What’s On Offer
- Competitive base salary
- Quarterly performance-related bonus
- Company car or car allowance
- Comprehensive product training and ongoing development
- Attractive benefits and pension package
- A stable, well-established organisation with a strong service-led culture
Why Join?
You’ll be joining a company where field service engineers are trusted technical experts and central to customer success. Your work will directly support diagnostic technologies that underpin critical clinical decisions and laboratory efficiency.
