The Opportunity
We are looking for a skilled Network Security Engineer to join a growing team in Farnborough, focusing on the design, implementation and support of secure network infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in firewalls, VPN technologies and Palo Alto solutions, who can help protect and evolve a modern enterprise environment.
You will play a key role in safeguarding critical systems, improving network security posture and supporting ongoing transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and manage network security infrastructure
- Configure and support Palo Alto firewalls (policies, NAT, VPNs, threat prevention)
- Deploy and maintain site-to-site and remote access VPN solutions
- Monitor and respond to network security incidents and vulnerabilities
- Perform firewall rule reviews, audits and optimisation
- Support security improvements and hardening initiatives
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on projects and changes
- Troubleshoot complex network and security issues
- Maintain documentation, standards and compliance records
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls (ideally Palo Alto)
- Proven experience managing VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN)
- Solid understanding of:
- Network security principles
- TCP/IP, routing and switching fundamentals
- NAT, access control and segmentation
- SIEM platforms
- Vulnerability scanning tools
Desirable
- Palo Alto certifications (e.g. PCNSE)
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure networking)
- Exposure to Zero Trust or SASE architectures
- Knowledge of IDS/IPS, proxy and web filtering technologies
- Experience in regulated or high-security environments
