Job Title : Estimator – Energy/Power Sector

Location : Hybrid (East Midlands or Scotland – travel to the office twice a month)

Salary : up to £75,000 + package

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator with civil engineering or infrastructure experience to join the growing power team of one of the UK's leading main contractors. The successful Estimator will quickly become an integral part of my clients preconstruction and work-winning teams and undertake a pivotal role in delivering accurate and competitive estimates on a range of projects for clients including National Grid, Scottish Power and SSE.

This role offers hybrid working with a requirement to attend their offices in the East Midlands or Scottish Central belt twice a month. Any travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.

As an Estimator, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects including the construction and refurbishment of substations and high voltage overhead power lines
  • Analyzing project requirements, specifications, and drawings to identify scope and risks.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing.
  • Monitoring market trends and innovations to ensure competitive bids.
  • Supporting the bid team in client presentations and negotiations.

The successful Estimator will need to have:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within the energy, power, rail, infrastructure or civils sectors
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles and methods
  • Proficiency in estimating software (ideally CostX)
  • Excellent attention to detail and first class communication skills
  • A team player with a proactive and collaborative approach
