About the Employer: We are recruiting on behalf of a growing main contractor who specialise in complex building structures across both the infrastructure and building sectors. They have secured a 2-year contract to deliver multiple structures as part of a major highways project in the North West.

About the Opportunity: This is an excellent site-based role where you will lead a small commercial team and play a key part in the continued growth of the business in the region. As Senior QS, you will be the commercial lead for the team, managing day-to-day activity while mentoring the commercial team. You will work closely with the project leadership team to deliver cost control, contract management, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial management of a package of structures on a major highways project
  • Oversee change control, valuations, cost forecasting, and final accounts
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and commercial requirements
  • Provide regular financial reports to the commercial manager and project lead
  • Develop and mentor junior commercial team members
  • Build strong relationships with client representatives, supply chain, and internal teams

Requirements / About You:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large infrastructure or major building projects
  • Strong knowledge of contract management (NEC experience preferred)
  • Experience on highways or civil engineering structures projects is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while guiding and developing junior staff
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
