A highly respected specialist consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major energy sector client across projects in the East of England. Based from either Tilbury in Essex or Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, this is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially driven quantity surveyor with relevant energy sector experience to join a growing team working at the forefront of the UK's energy infrastructure. You will be working on large-scale, high-value, complex energy projects, providing expert commercial support to a high-profile end client. Opportunity

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the energy sector, you will take ownership of commercial management activities across one or more major capital projects. You will work closely with client representatives, contractor teams, and wider project stakeholders to ensure all commercial, contractual, and cost management obligations are met to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end commercial and cost management for major energy sector projects
  • Administering NEC, FIDIC, or ICE contracts on behalf of the client
  • Preparation of cost plans, estimates, valuations, and financial reports
  • Change management, variation assessment, and compensation event management
  • Procurement support including tender evaluation and contract award
  • Liaison with end clients, project managers, contractors, and supply chain
  • Contributing to risk registers, value engineering, and cost forecasting
  • Providing commercial mentoring and support to junior team members

What We're Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • MRICS qualified or actively working towards chartership
  • Relevant experience in the energy, oil and gas, petrochemical, or power sectors
  • Strong practical knowledge of NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, or ICE contract forms
  • Confident managing high-value contracts on complex capital programmes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Must be a UK National and able to successfully pass a security clearance process
  • Flexibility to work from Tilbury (Essex) or Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk)
