Contract - 3 Months

Location - York or Manchester

Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the development of major rail infrastructure enhancement projects through the early project lifecycle, from feasibility and option selection through to a robust single option ready for delivery. Working within a complex stakeholder environment, the Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for managing programme, budget, risk, safety and stakeholder engagement activities whilst ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards, rail legislation and project governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead rail enhancement projects through feasibility, option selection and development stages.
  • Manage project scope, programme, cost, risk and quality.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and delivery plans.
  • Manage consultants, contractors and supplier engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, CSM, Railway Interoperability Regulations and Network Rail standards.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement across operations, maintenance, asset management and external organisations.
  • Support procurement strategies and commercial decision making.
  • Manage project risks, change control and project governance requirements.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience delivering rail infrastructure or rail enhancement projects.
  • Strong project development experience within rail, client-side or major infrastructure environments.
  • Experience managing stakeholders across complex programmes.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent.
  • Strong commercial, budget and risk management experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of PACE and/or GRIP.
  • APM membership or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working within Network Rail investment frameworks.
