Are you an experienced Mechanical Technician looking to work on cutting‑edge engineering projects in a highly advanced technical environment? We’re seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Technician to support major shutdown and maintenance programmes on complex mechanical systems within a world‑class engineering and research facility. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled team delivering critical installation, maintenance and upgrade work across vacuum, cooling, pressurised and electro‑magnetic systems.
As a Mechanical Technician your duties will include:
- Supporting large‑scale shutdown and intervention activities
- Carrying out mechanical assembly, maintenance, fault finding and repairs
- Assisting with installation and commissioning of new systems
- Producing maintenance and testing documentation, work packs and safe systems of work
- Supporting complex engineering projects including cooling systems and in‑vessel works
- Supervising fitters, contractors and junior craft personnel where required
- Maintaining high safety standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Working within regulated environments and adhering to CDM Regs
Experience required:
- Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience within an industrial mechanical assembly and maintenance environment
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work, RAMS and method statements
- Ability to work independently on technically challenging tasks
Desirable Experience:
- Vacuum systems experience
- Exposure to cooling or pressurised systems
- Basic understanding of electrical/mechanical interface work
- Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques
