TaiSan is developing next-generation polymer electrolyte to enable Sodium Batteries 2.0 — higher energy density, safer, and scalable. We are looking to recruit a Battery Pack Maker & Test Engineer to translate validated pouch cells into functional prototype battery packs and support early customer validation. In this role, you will work closely with cell makers to integrate cells into pack-level prototypes, coordinate component sourcing, and ensure pack designs meet customer requirements. You will play a critical role in moving TaiSan’s technology from cell validation to real-world application and pilot deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pack Assembly & Prototyping: Assemble prototype battery packs using validated battery cells (various formats). Work closely with “cell makers” internal team to ensure correct integration and electrical configuration. Organize and maintain a structured, safe, and efficient prototyping workspace. Ensure pack assembly follows clear documentation and reproducible procedures.
  • Component Sourcing & Coordination: Identify and order required pack components (BMS, connectors, housings, wiring, thermal management components, etc.). Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and compatibility of components. Support cost-aware sourcing aligned with project timelines.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct pack-level testing to evaluate performance, safety, and reliability. Support validation of electrical, thermal, and mechanical integration. Document test results and communicate findings to the wider technical team. Identify integration-related bottlenecks and propose improvements.
  • Customer Collaboration: Cooperate with customers to understand pack-level requirements (voltage, capacity, form factor, discharge rate, safety requirements, etc.). Translate customer requirements into internal technical specifications. Support pilot deployments and early-stage product demonstrations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cell, anode, cathode, and electrolyte teams to ensure pack-level requirements are considered in cell design. Communicate clearly with engineering, business, and leadership teams on progress and challenges.

Requirements

Required Qualifications: Experience assembling battery packs and working with lithium-ion or sodium-based cells. Understanding of pack-level electrical integration, safety considerations, and testing workflows. Experience sourcing and integrating pack components (BMS, wiring, housings, etc.). Ability to organize and manage a prototyping workspace efficiently. Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working directly with customers on technical requirements. Familiarity with thermal management considerations in battery packs. Experience in early-stage product development or pilot-scale deployments. Comfortable in a fast-moving deep-tech startup environment with high ownership.

Who You Are: You are an independent, rigorous scientist who takes full ownership of your analytical work from experimental design to final reporting. You are comfortable operating autonomously and building structure where it does not yet exist. You do not wait for detailed instructions. You identify gaps, define testing standards, and proactively improve analytical workflows. You think critically about reproducibility, scalability, and long-term product impact. You understand that data quality directly influences material decisions and manufacturing readiness. You are disciplined in documentation, precise in execution, and uncompromising in safety standards. You thrive in a fast-moving environment where your work directly shapes material development and commercialization strategy.

Benefits: Competitive salary and equity compensation commensurate with experience. Inclusive and mission-driven work environment. 20 days annual leave plus public holidays. Company pension scheme. Employee Assistance Programme offering confidential counselling and personal support services. Access to an online wellbeing tool for fast, confidential wellbeing guidance. Bright Exchange employee benefits platform providing discounts and exclusive offers across a wide range of products and services. Support with visa activities.
