Shift Overview: 2nd Shift follows a hybrid workflow with the first half of the shift mirroring retail pharmacy and the second half of the shift as a closed‑door mail order facility.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate expectations during start of shift huddle in the absence of a Lead Technician.
- Serve as a resource to technicians in both problem solving and assignment of roles.
- Pre‑check prescriptions before fill to ensure accuracy and appropriateness (PV1).
- Check filled prescriptions according to legal and professional standards (PV2).
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medication use, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Train/mentor new members that join the team and provide regular feedback on performance and expectations.
- Guide staff at end of shift in preparing the facility for shift change to ensure the incoming shift’s team members start their day with a tidy and well‑stocked workspace.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient profiles.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring medications are stored properly and securely.
- Comply with regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with healthcare laws.
Research and Professional Development:
- Stay informed about new drugs, treatments, and medical research.
