The Canvas team at Goodnotes is at the heart of our core note-taking experience — used and loved by millions every day. We build and maintain the foundational components that turn any device into an endless, expressive digital notebook, including drawing, writing, and typing tools, the canvas interaction model, content creation and editing flows, and our rendering engine. We value efficiency and focus, with minimal meetings and an emphasis on getting things done.

We are looking for a curious and AI-native UX Researcher to join our Canvas team. In this role, you will conduct high-volume user research, uncover actionable insights, and help shape product priorities for one of the most strategic areas at Goodnotes. You will work closely with designers, PMs, and engineers in a fast-paced, highly autonomous environment where ownership, adaptability, and AI-powered workflows are highly valued.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (renewable / convertible).

This is the role for you if you're excited to work on:

  • High-impact user research: Conduct a high volume of moderated and unmoderated interviews — both in-person and virtual — at scale to deeply understand user behaviours, pain points, and unmet needs across Canvas experiences.
  • Turning insights into product direction: Synthesize research findings into actionable recommendations that directly influence product priorities, roadmap decisions, and backlog shaping.
  • AI-native research workflows: Leverage AI-powered tools and workflows to accelerate research operations, synthesis, and insight generation, helping scale the impact of UX research across the team.
  • Working in ambiguity: Partner closely with designers, PMs, and engineers in a fast-paced environment where problems are often loosely defined and teams optimise for speed and impact.
  • Owning the research function within Canvas: Operate with a high level of autonomy as the dedicated researcher on the team, helping establish how research informs decision-making in one of Goodnotes' most important product areas.
  • Shaping the future of Canvas: Influence the evolution of a strategic product area that will become the foundation for many future Goodnotes experiences.

The skills you will need to be successful:

  • 1–4 years of experience in UX research, customer research, product discovery, or adjacent user-focused roles, ideally within fast-paced product environments.
  • AI-native approach to work, with enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to improve research speed, scale, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong product mindset with the ability to connect user insights to product decisions, prioritisation, and business impact.
  • Experience independently planning and conducting qualitative research, including moderated and unmoderated interviews, and synthesising findings into actionable insights.
  • Growth mindset with strong curiosity, adaptability, and openness to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, low-process environments with a high level of ownership, autonomy, and bias toward execution.

What's in it for you:

  • Customized Growth & Wellness Budgets: We provide dedicated stipends for the things that keep you at your best, including noise-cancelling headphones for deep focus, professional training, personal development, and health and wellness activities.
  • Global Connectivity: While we embrace flexible work, we love seeing each other. We provide sponsored visits to our beautiful office locations to foster face-to-face collaboration.
  • Company-Wide Offsites: Once a year, we gather the entire global team in person to celebrate our wins, align on our vision, and build lasting connections.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Your well-being is our priority. We offer premium medical insurance for you and your dependents to ensure peace of mind for your whole family.
