Reporting: Senior Manager, Live Journalism/Events; Head of Production

Overview

The Events Manager will coordinate and execute the physical and technical delivery of our live journalism portfolio. You will bring editorial concepts to life as high-impact live experiences. You will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordination, and on-site delivery of each event—ensuring everything from intimate newsroom briefings to large-scale festivals is executed to the highest professional standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Coordination: Translate event concepts into detailed operational plans. Liaise closely with editorial and marketing teams to ensure concepts are feasible, well-coordinated, and delivered within budget.
  • Technical & Creative Delivery: Coordinate all technical aspects of event delivery, including AV setup, lighting, stage design, and livestreaming infrastructure. Maintain strict brand aesthetic consistency across all physical touchpoints.
  • Venue & Supplier Management: Research, source, and act as the main point of contact for venues, third-party production agencies, and ticketing vendors. Assist with contract negotiations to ensure maximum value for money.
  • On-Site Coordination: Act as the main stage manager or lead coordinator on-site. Manage floor schedules, technicians, freelancers, and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless execution on event day.
  • Timeline & Project Management: Create and track master production timelines. Coordinate with internal editorial, marketing, and commercial teams to ensure all stakeholders meet their operational deadlines.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Complete necessary event safety documentation, including risk assessments, crowd management plans, and compliance checklists.
  • Budget Tracking: Manage day-to-day event expenses, track operational costs against the budget, and process supplier invoices.

Requirements

  • Event Execution Experience: Proven experience managing mid-to-large-scale events, ideally within a media, news, agency, or high-end corporate environment.
  • Technical Competence: Solid understanding of AV setup, livestreaming requirements, staging, and digital ticketing platforms.
  • Vendor Management: Strong track record of supervising external suppliers, freelancers, and venue staff.
  • Organization & Detail: Exceptional project management skills with the ability to balance multiple moving parts simultaneously.
  • Calm Under Pressure: A proactive problem-solver with a cool head, capable of making quick, effective decisions in a fast‑paced live environment.
