Business Analyst Edinburgh Hybrid 12 – 18 month fixed term contract

As our Business Analyst, you’ll be shaping work before it hits delivery, making sure what we take forward is clear, aligned, and set up to succeed. This role sits right at the front of change, with a strong focus on system integration and making sure our platforms and processes connect in the right way.
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON
- Engaging early with teams across the business to capture ideas, challenge thinking, and shape initiatives before they enter the pipeline.
- Leading discovery to define clear objectives, success measures, and outcomes, making sure work is ready and worth doing before it reaches engineering.
- Bringing structure to our pipeline, spotting overlaps, gaps, and dependencies, and supporting prioritisation so we focus on what matters most.
- Translating business needs into clear, high‑level requirements and integration‑focused briefs that set delivery teams up for success.
- Acting as the bridge between business, PMO, architecture, and engineering, keeping everyone aligned and raising risks or ambiguity early.
- Improving the quality of what goes into delivery, reducing duplication, avoiding scope creep, and driving clarity from the start.
- Supporting business readiness and sign‑off, including UAT, to make sure solutions land as expected.
- Helping create a more predictable, joined‑up delivery pipeline that supports smooth sprint planning and better outcomes.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Experience as a Business Analyst using tools like Visio, Miro, Jira, or Confluence, in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to turn business needs into clear requirements, user stories, and process documentation that delivery teams can build from.
- Solid experience in Agile delivery, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and defining clear acceptance criteria.
- Extensive analytical and process skills, including process mapping, gap analysis, and using data to support decisions and drive improvement.
- Confident stakeholder partner, able to work across all levels, facilitate workshops, and communicate complex ideas simply and effectively.
