At Gofal Cymru Care, we are committed to delivering outstanding residential support services throughout Cardiff and the Vale. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for the teenagers and adults in our care by providing compassionate, person‑centred support. Our staff teams are highly trained and we foster environments where both staff and residents feel safe, respected, and empowered to achieve.
The Role
Located in one of our nine small (maximum six bed) homes across Cardiff, we offer full or part time hours covering evenings, weekends, bank holidays, wake‑in and sleep‑in duties. We specialise in supporting children and adults with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorder, acquired brain injury and mental health issues. We provide person‑centred care and support aimed at improving the quality of life for individuals.

Experience is helpful but not essential; full training is provided. Above all, we want people who share our values, who are caring, empathetic, compassionate, good team players and are willing to learn. Successful candidates will have an interest in helping those with mental health needs and complex learning disabilities to live with less restriction and greater independence. They will be energetic and enthusiastic, with a desire to make a difference and enrich the lives of others.
Day‑to‑Day Tasks
- Supporting individuals as they go about their daily lives, providing personal care where necessary and promoting their independence to achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with personal care needs, including washing/bathing, toileting, dressing, mobility and transport.
- Help individuals to make their own choices and support them to carry out activities within and outside the home (e.g., cooking, cleaning, shopping, gym, days out, social and leisure activities).
- Act as an advocate, promoting individuals’ wellbeing, safety and quality of life.
- Perform cleaning duties as part of the team, undertake general domestic chores or support individuals to carry out such duties.
- Help with menu planning, shopping and cooking for the home.
- Administer medication in line with training and company procedures.
- Carry out health & safety checks as necessary.
- Follow care and management guidelines and work in line with company policies and procedures.
- Complete documentation and keep records in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other reasonable tasks as required that fall within the grade of the job.
Selection Criteria
Essential- Ability to speak and understand English
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Physically fit to meet demands of the post
- Minimum of 21 years old to work in children’s homes
- Prepared to learn
- Care experience with those with learning disabilities
- Valid driver’s licence and driving experience
- Relevant QCF qualifications
