Welcome to Kingston! This historic market town is now looking to crown an RVN, to help lead the team and grow the practice even further, re-establishing its potential!
Our Kingston practice situated in a beautiful period building is looking for an RVN to join and take the reins of this established GP site, complete with dental and digital x‐ray. The practice itself has a huge consult room with large windows looking out to the garden, it also has a large separate colleague area with natural light flooding through, and a spacious separate office for any admin duties you need to complete away from the clinical areas.
You will be working alongside a full‐time sole charge vet, and an incredibly enthusiastic veterinary nursing assistant, who you will help support throughout their training. Kingston has a very bonded and respected client base, many of them have been returning since the 90's! Kingston is also supported by Stone Lion 24‐hour hospital in Wimbledon, for more complex cases, or OOH care your patients may need.
This 4‐day week role (Wednesdays off) involves a 1:4 branch Saturday rotation, and 1:10 Saturdays at Stone Lion Hospital. You will be rota'd to up to 2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion, and there are NO on‐call requirements.
As a sole charge branch RVN duties will include:
- Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
- Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
- Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
- Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
- Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
- Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
- Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
The practice is just a 6‐minute walk from Norbiton train station, and within a 50‐minute journey you are in central London. You are also a 10‐minute walk from the famous picturesque Richmond Park, and the River Thames. Kingston upon Thames really is a gem for anyone thinking about relocating.
There is a room in the shared flat above the practice if accommodation whether it be short or long term is required.
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty – what we offer you:
- The salary for this sole charge RVN position inclusive of weekend rotation is £34,000 to £37,000 FTE depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
- 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays.
- CPD budget every year plus up to 2 days' paid CPD leave.
- Paid 30‐minute lunch breaks.
- The opportunity to join our private medical healthcare scheme at a reduced rate, plus medical cashback incentives.
- Relocation assistance (where applicable).
- Generous colleague introduction reward (for the introduction of vets and RVN's).
- 24‐hour Employee Assistance Programme.
