Drive Commercial Excellence in a Growing Specialist Manufacturing Business. A newly created opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Sales Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the sales function and driving operational excellence of a long established, progressive manufacturing organisation. Working closely with the Managing Director and Sales Director, you will ensure the sales operation runs efficiently, allowing the external sales team to focus on building customer relationships and winning new business.

About the role: As Sales Operations Manager, you will provide the commercial structure, reporting and leadership that underpins the company’s sales performance. You will lead the internal sales and customer service team, oversee CRM and pipeline management, coordinate with production planning, manage customer escalations and direct marketing activity. This is a varied and influential position that combines people management, commercial analysis and operational leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and develop the Internal Sales and Customer Service team.
  • Manage sales pipeline reporting, forecasting and CRM data integrity.
  • Support and coordinate the external technical sales team through effective pipeline management and commercial discipline.
  • Produce meaningful sales reports and commercial insights for senior management.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for customer service issues, ensuring timely resolution of key customer concerns.
  • Work closely with production planning to align customer demand with operational capacity.
  • Direct and coordinate the company's marketing activities, including digital presence, customer communications and trade exhibitions.
  • Contribute to commercial strategy, business planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and experience required: About you - You will be an experienced commercial or sales operations professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will bring:

  • Proven experience in sales management, sales operations or commercial leadership.
  • Experience managing both internal sales/customer service teams and supporting external sales professionals.
  • Strong CRM, pipeline management and sales forecasting skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A commercial mindset with an understanding of pricing, margins and customer profitability.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

It would be advantageous if you have experience in:

  • Manufacturing, chemicals, or other technical B2B industries.
  • Regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • ERP systems and S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning).
  • Managing or directing B2B marketing activities.
