Godstowe Preparatory School is seeking an enthusiastic, caring and proactive Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.

About the Role and You
Working closely with class teachers, you will provide high-quality academic and pastoral support to pupils within Key Stage 1, both in the classroom and through targeted individual and small-group interventions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils during lessons and helping them make good progress.
- Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
- Supporting interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience.
- Supporting children with additional learning needs where required.
- Assisting with classroom resources, displays and learning activities.
- Promoting positive behaviour and excellent relationships between pupils.
- Supporting children's emotional wellbeing and pastoral care.
- Supervising pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, trips and other activities as required.
- Contributing positively to the wider life of the School.
- Maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare.
About You: We are looking for someone who has:
- Warm, caring, patient and enthusiastic about working with children aged 5–7.
- Confident supporting individual pupils, small groups and classroom learning.
- A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
- Positive, organised, reliable and able to use initiative.
- Committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
Previous experience in a primary or preparatory school and a Teaching Assistant or relevant childcare qualification would be advantageous. Experience supporting phonics, early reading, mathematics or children with additional learning needs would also be desirable.
