We’re looking for a freelance Project Manager with strong technical understanding to support the implementation of goDonate – our digital donation platform – for UK charity clients. This is a part-time, flexible role ideal for someone with other commitments. You’ll need excellent digital project management skills and a solid grasp of online payments, data handling, and user experience in a fundraising context.
About goDonate
goDonate is a specialist digital donations platform used by leading UK charities including NSPCC, Marie Curie and Breast Cancer Now. We help charities deliver seamless online donation journeys, with smart integrations into their payment systems, CRMs and reporting tools.
The Role
You’ll manage the delivery of goDonate and inMem for new and existing clients, ensuring projects run smoothly from kick-off to go-live. While you won’t be doing the technical or UX work yourself, you’ll need to understand how things work — from how donation journeys are designed and optimised, to how payments, data exports, and CRM integrations function. You’ll also support quality assurance, particularly when new features are rolled out or customised per client.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage implementation projects for goDonate clients
- Act as the main point of contact between clients and internal teams (UX, development, support)
- Oversee setup of payment gateways (Stripe, Braintree, GoCardless etc) and direct debit configurations
- Support CRM integrations (API or secure SFTP), ensuring accurate and timely data flows
- Coordinate and test data exports and client reporting requirements
- Carry out QA testing on donation journeys, features and integrations before handover
- Work with our in-house Design/UX specialists to ensure donation experiences meet client and user needs
- Maintain clear documentation and project updates for all stakeholders
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong technical understanding of online payment systems and direct debit workflows
- Data formats, exports and integrations (CSV, JSON, SFTP, API)
- CRM and third-party system integrations in a charity context
- Basic understanding of UX principles and user journeys, particularly around online giving
- Experience working with developers, QA testers and UX/design teams
- Excellent communication, time management, and client relationship skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects/clients and work independently in a remote environment
- Previous experience delivering digital projects for the charity sector
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with common charity CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, ThankQ)
- Understanding of GA4, event tracking, and analytics integration
- Knowledge of Gift Aid, GDPR, PCI compliance, and data handling best practices
