The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London. The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work. The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

Mathematics is an extremely popular subject at the school and in Sixth Form. In Year 7, girls are taught in their forms but from Years 8 to 11 they are taught in bands. All girls are entered for the Edexcel International GCSE (IGCSE) and, last year, just under half of those also took the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics in Year 11. At A Level, the majority study Mathematics and many also choose to study Further Mathematics. Those studying the IB must all take one of three Mathematics courses, with over a third choosing to do so at Higher Level.

The department offers an extensive supercurricular and enrichment programme for girls of all ages, with Godolphin pupils regularly excelling in a wide range of national Mathematics competitions and Olympiads.

We currently seek to appoint a well-qualified, ambitious and experienced Teacher or current Head of Mathematics to join the school from 1 September 2026 or 1 January 2027 to lead our large and thriving Mathematics department. An inspirational teacher and leader, the key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Provision of effective teaching and learning
  • Monitoring and evaluation of pupils’ work and achievements
  • Ensuring that the department has the leadership and support necessary to build on its already excellent standards

The post-holder will lead a team of fifteen enthusiastic and proactive Mathematicians, with a strong focus on skills development and independent learning. The ability to teach up to Further Maths A Level and Higher Level IB is essential. The post-holder will also be expected to oversee and contribute to departmental support for students applying to competitive university courses in Mathematics and related subjects, including preparation for Admissions Tests.

All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School. This is a permanent and full time post and the salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience. Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

Fully completed application forms must be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com by noon on the closing date. Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form. Neither CVs nor late applications will be accepted. The closing date is noon on Tuesday 5 May 2026. It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Monday 11 May 2026.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

The Charity called The Godolphin and Latymer School (charity registration number 312699) is administered by The Godolphin and Latymer School Foundation, a charitable company limited by guarantee (Company number 3598439).
