This is an exciting opportunity for an experiencedDispenser to join our friendly established Dispensing Team here at GodolphinHealth on either a part time or full time basis. The role will be dual sited within our Praze and Connor Downs GPpractices.

The post-holder will be a Teamplayer and project a positive and friendly image to Dispensary patients andother visitors. Dealing with queries in a professional, courteous and efficientway.

The role requires the postholder to have a fullclean driving licence.

Main duties of the job

Dispensing

  • Dispensing acute prescriptions.
  • Dispensing repeat prescriptions requests received by e-mail & Godolphin Health website.
  • Updating patients repeat screens on Doctors instructions.
  • Dispensing private prescriptions.
  • Ensuring the Dispensary area remains clean & tidy.

Prescriptions

  • Handing out prescriptions & collecting charges when appropriate.
  • Liaising with medication delivery service.
  • Taking prescription repeats in person within the practice dispensary.
  • Generating prescriptions.
  • Completing backs of prescriptions accurately.
  • Sorting & endorsing prescriptions.
  • Processing & bundling prescriptions for the Prescription Pricing Authority.

Stock Control

  • Ordering appropriate quantities of goods via the wholesalers computer link.
  • Checking goods as & when they are delivered on a daily basis.
  • Being responsible for the receipt and recording of controlled drugs.
  • Returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers.
  • Stocking shelves, refrigerators & other storage areas using rotation method.
  • Removing out of date stock from the shelves, refrigerators & other storage areas.
  • Disposal of returned unused medicines.

Other

  • Undertake Dispensary Review of Medicines with patients.
  • Participate in ongoing & ad hoc audits.
  • Provide cover to the other Surgery at last minute notice.

About us

We are a training practice and look after a list of 9032 patients overtwo sites, dispensing to 65% of them. The 3 partners are supported by a growingfantastic multidisciplinary team comprising 5 salaried GPs, 1 advanced nursepractitioner, 2 practice nurses, 2 HCAs and a phlebotomist. In addition, we have our GP trainees. Throughour Primary Care Network, we share 3 mental health practitioners, a first contact physiotherapist, a carehome paramedic and a share of 2 pharmacist and 3 pharmacy technicians. We are all a friendly and supportive bunch.

The additional benefits of working here is that we only normally work weekdays, unless we have specialist vaccination clinics which are held on a Saturday morning. Supporting these clinics is on a voluntary basis.

REPORTS TO: Dispensary Manager / Practice Manager

HOURS: 24hrs – 37.5hrs

TERMS: PERMANENT CONTRACT

LOCATION: Praze Surgery & Connor Downs Surgery. Both our Surgeries are within 5 or 10 mins drive of the A30.

Job Summary:

The post-holder will be a Team player and project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors. Dealing with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way. Assisting in the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering and re-stocking of the dispensary.

The role requires the postholder to have a full clean driving licence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Dispensing

  • Dispensing acute prescriptions.
  • Dispensing repeat prescriptions requests received by e-mail and Godolphin Health website.
  • Updating patients repeat screens on Doctors instructions.

Dispensing private prescriptions.

Dosette box packaging and checking Dosette boxes.

  • Ensuring the Dispensary area remains clean and tidy.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience of working well within a small Team.
  • Experience of working with EMIS software.
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.
  • Ability to accurately interpret and fill prescriptions, ensuring correct medication and dosage.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for dispensing medications accurately and maintaining patient records.
  • Strong customer service skills to provide guidance and support to patients, fostering trust and rapport.
  • Ability to manage stock levels and ensure accurate inventory control.
  • Experience of working in primary care
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice
