Job summary
MATERNITY COVER Receptionist/Administration Role. To ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly, providing a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.
Main duties of the job:
- Telephone Duties
- Reception Duties
- Filing
- Dealing with prescriptions orders and completion
- General office duties
- Administration (Dependent on experience)
Job responsibilities:
- Making appointments
- Taking requests for prescriptions
- Giving out results
- Ambulance transport bookings
- Home visit requests
- Deal with general enquiries and complaints
- Contacting other providers
- Register new patients and temporary residents
- Greet and direct patients and visitors
- Handing out prescriptions
- Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift
- Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery
- Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services
- Pulling Lloyd George envelopes when requested by doctors
- Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions
- Input and extract information from Practice computer system
- Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
- General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)
- Make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up
- Clean and replenish GP surgery rooms
- Any other reasonable duties as necessary (dependent on experience)
- Process Referrals
- Extract and prepare GDPR requests

- Desirable: Previous GP Practice/Hospital Experience preferred
