Job Description

We are recruiting for a boutique financial services business based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They are looking for an experienced Investment Manager to join their team specialising in Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) funds, supporting early-stage UK businesses and delivering tax-efficient opportunities to investors.

This person would take a leading role in the origination, execution, and management of EIS investments and support ongoing regulatory, compliance and operational oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, assessment, and execution of EIS-qualifying investments.
  • Manage portfolio companies, including monitoring performance, supporting governance, and executing follow-on strategies or exits.
  • Liaise with advisers, founders, legal counsel, and the internal compliance team.
  • Serve as an FCA-approved person under a relevant SMF (e.g., SMF3 Executive Director or SMF27 Investment Management).
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with FCA rules, AML regulations, GDPR, and internal policies.
  • Support investor communications, reporting, and periodic fund valuations.
  • Contribute to strategy, fundraising activity, and product development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in investment management, venture capital, private equity, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS).
  • Experience leading due diligence and transaction processes.
  • Prior experience in portfolio or fund management (especially early-stage companies) is essential.
  • Must meet the FCA Fit and Proper Test and be eligible to hold an SMF designation.
  • Demonstrable understanding of AML, GDPR and FCA rules
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CFA, ICAEW, or CISI Level 6) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with small firm dynamics and willingness to take on varied tasks.
