Job Description
Brixton London…where David Bowie took his first steps, home of the famous Ritzy Cinema, the location of one of London’s best food markets, and for over 20 years has been home to Goddard Brixton on Brixton Hill. This established practice in South London is looking for a confident GP vet wishing to settle and make their mark.
About your new role!
Our new team member will be confident in day-to-day GP sole charge practice life, working alongside an RVN who we are currently recruiting for, and a fantastic trainee nurse who knows the practice inside-out.
This is a 4-day week role (Thursdays off) and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation, and 1-2 bank holidays per year.
There are NO on-call requirements for this position.
The Brixton practice is looking for a vet to settle in and re-establish a close-knit client base, performing first opinion consultations and routine surgeries. Location wise, Brixton is within 20 minutes of what I like to call the south-west sister triangle. Our Kennington and Stockwell branches are within easy reach of Brixton, providing additional support if needed, with Kennington also having ultrasound facilities.
You will be fully supported by our 24-hour Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon for any complex cases you may need to refer, or for any of your patients who require OOH care.
You will also be fully supported by a fantastic regional manager, and regional head vet to assist in any clinical management support you may need.
As a sole charge branch vet, leadership training will also be provided, and you will work closely with your RVN to ensure the practice is running as smoothly as possible (though we know there are "those days"!)
As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:
– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
– Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
– Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
– Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
– Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
– Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
– Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned
– Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.
The practice is situated bang in the middle of Streatham Hill and Brixton stations, being a 20-minute walk or 5-minute cycle from the practice.
Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:
Our sole charge vet salary band is £60,000 to £75,000 (FTE) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
A little snippet of the benefits you will receive as a Goddard vet:
– 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
– Generous relocation assistance (where applicable)
– Up to £2,000 CPD budget every year plus up to 5 days' paid CPD leave
– Private Medical Healthcare Insurance with Bupa
