Job Description
Welcome to Hayes End! This is an ideal opportunity that will enable a vet who has the confidence to take on a client base and make it their own, while having part-time support from an established senior vet.
About your new role!
This first opinion GP position is part-time across 3 days per week: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, giving you a lovely long weekend every week to indulge in hobbies, family life or to simply switch off! This part-time role includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota βd to 1 bank holiday per year in the Mandeville Hospital in Northolt. There are NO on-call requirements.
You would be supported by a highly experienced part-time senior vet who has worked in Hayes for years, and experienced RVN and trainee nurses. You will also have the support of our invaluable regional manager, and regional head vet for any of those clinical queries!
As well as being equipped with everything you would expect, the practice is kitted out perfectly for a vet with a surgical bias, as our previous vet was an orthopaedic surgeon. Hayes End also has dental x-ray, perfect for those budding dentists out there!
As a branch vet some of your duties will include:
β Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
β Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
β Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
β Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that petsβ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
β Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
β Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
Goddard Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides Hayes End with its OOH care and support with any complex cases you may need to refer. With state-of-the-art diagnostic support at the hospital with a new CT scanner, a diploma holder in imaging providing our CT and ultrasound service, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, your referred patients are in safe hands!
If you are new to the area, Hayes is in the heart of a popular suburb of West London with ample green space, a friendly community and plenty of train stations to get you across the city such as Hayes & Harlington which is on the shiny new Elizabeth Line.
There is on site-parking available if you drive (a rare occurrence in and around London!)

The salary band for this 3-day week role plus weekend rotation is Β£45,000 to Β£65,000 (full-time equivalent based on a 40 hour week) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
