Welcome to Wanstead Veterinary Hospital. Our largest 24-hour veterinary hospital within the group is looking for a highly experienced manager to lead the large clinical and administrative team.

About the role:
This is a full-time on-site Monday to Friday position with occasional management on-call requirements at weekends to assist in urgent management phone queries. You are not required to attend the hospital for on-call.
You will work closely with our long-established head vet who has been in Wanstead for over 10 years, as well as multiple senior colleagues including head nurse, deputy nurses and senior colleagues. Our hospital team consists of approximately 24 vets, 30 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.
This role will require strong leadership expertise, ongoing enthusiasm for the veterinary industry and excellent communication skills, to be able to navigate the ever changing and complex world of veterinary management, within a large hospital setting. Our new colleague will ideally have extensive prior experience in veterinary leadership, managing large multidisciplinary teams involving a breadth of responsibilities.
Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining an atmosphere of team collaboration and mutual respect
- Playing a key role in the operational and financial success of the hospital
- Overseeing the general practice management including stock control, rotas, holiday and absence management
- Oversee the reception team to ensure the hospital are providing exceptional client service as well as debt management, and complaint management
- Support in recruitment for hospital positions, and liaising with HR where applicable
- Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking and problem solving skills at a fast pace
There is fantastic diagnostic support at Wanstead, including a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site. Wanstead provides exemplary care for the surrounding clinics in the nearby regions for more complex cases and has its own rotating night team to provide integral OOH support.
