About your new role
We are looking for a full-time (40 hours per week over 5 days) Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) for our 24-hour site in East London.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience as an RVN, or be a newly qualified RVN trained in a hospital environment. Experience across various departments within a GP hospital setting (theatre, ward, consultations, and emergency care) is advantageous, but support will be provided for any gaps.
You will work alongside a team of approx. 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 senior RVNs, 7 vet care associates, and a front‐of‐house team.
Management support comes from senior RVNs, two deputy head nurses, a head nurse, a head vet, and the hospital manager.
Key responsibilities
Act as weekend Charge Nurse as directed.
Advise clients on post‐operative discharge instructions, providing verbal and written guidance, including medication instructions.
Document all clinical histories and discussions with clients regarding fees, treatment options or patient care.
Ensure all equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly.
Follow shift guidance notes and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
Assist veterinary surgeons in theatre, inpatient examinations, procedures, and consultations as required.
Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
Uphold high standards of cleanliness and tidiness, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) in all areas.
Work schedule
Rota includes a 1:4 weekend rotation with TOIL and up to three bank holidays per year. You will be part of the last resort on‐call rotation, working nights with two RVNs and one VCA.
Salary and benefits
Salary band: £32,000 to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
6.6 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays.
CPD budget every year plus up to two days' paid CPD leave.
Paid 30‐minute lunch breaks.
