In the heart of East London, home of Billingsgate fish market, E Pellicci’s cafe and the Columbia Road Flower Market sits our very popular Plaistow practice, and they are looking for an additional RVN to join their team on a full-time basis.

About your new role! Our new team member will be no stranger to fast paced GP branch life, building rapport with clients and their beloved animals. You will be working alongside an energetic team including 1.2 vets, senior RVN, and enthusiastic trainee nurses. This role is full-time Monday to Friday and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation with TOIL. You will be rota’d to 1 to 2 bank holidays per annum in Wanstead. There are no on-call requirements for this position.

Our Plaistow practice has supported the local community for years, providing invaluable diagnostic and surgical care, and being ISFM accredited they have a passion for feline welfare. As well as plenty of opportunity for an RVN who enjoys conducting nurse consults, with a large surgical caseload there will also be ample GA exposure. Facilities on site include digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound. For anything more advanced the practice is supported by Wanstead 24-hour hospital, for internal referrals or OOH care and hospitalisation.

As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
  • Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
  • Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
  • Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
  • Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
  • Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
  • Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
  • Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.

The practice is surrounded by plenty of transport links, including Upton Park on the circle line (the yellow line) and is a 10-minute walk away, which goes through London Liverpool Street where you can pick up most other tube/train lines. This role would be ideal for an RVN who thrives in a busy inner-city environment, building rapport with clients from all walks of life, and wants to settle into a role working alongside an established team, soaking up their experience!

Now let’s get to the nitty gritty, here is what we offer you:

The salary for this RVN position is £32,000 to £36,000 per annum depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
