Putney and Fulham are two GP clinics in Southwest London seeking a part-time vet to support day-to-day first opinion caseloads across both sites.
The rota for this sole-charge 3-day week position is Mondays and Thursdays in Putney, and Fridays in Fulham. This provides the practice, team and clients with weekly consistency on the senior vets' days off. Your rota also includes a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation, plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements.
Our Putney team currently includes 1 associate vet and a fantastic clinical support team who are passionate about building strong bonds with their established client base and providing exemplary patient care. We are going through a new era in Putney and are also recruiting for a senior RVN, so you will have an opportunity to build a new team. If you have an RVN friend or colleague looking for a senior opportunity, this could be an ideal package deal with a refer-a-friend bonus. In Fulham you will be supported by an established support team who have trained through the practice and have a genuine bond with their clients.
Responsibilities- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations based on best practice and evidence, in accordance with GVG protocols.
- Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within personal competence and the limitations of overnight care.
- Maintain, prescribe and dispense medications in accordance with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure pets’ histories are comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for any reason.
- Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
- Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOPs are being actioned.
- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.
The clients at Putney and Fulham are amazing, largely insured and highly bonded to the team. If you have a keen interest in diagnostic imaging, we have recently procured ultrasound facilities at Putney, while both sites have digital and dental x-ray as standard.
You will be fully supported by a dedicated regional manager and our 24-hour Stone Lion hospital, a 15-minute drive away, where you can refer more complex cases and access OOH services. You will also have additional clinical support from our regional head vet, Julie, who has extensive clinical and management knowledge to share.
Our Putney practice location has a true London village atmosphere, a short walk from the River Thames, Putney High Street and Putney Station. The Fulham location is ideal, within a 7-minute walk from Fulham Broadway station (District Line), with easy access to areas such as Ealing, East London and Essex. Both locations are situated near vibrant areas of London with plenty of amenities nearby.
