Welcome to Mandeville Veterinary Hospital!

We’re looking for an experienced, client-focused Veterinary Receptionist to join our invaluable front of house team at Mandeville 24-hour Veterinary Hospital in Northolt, working 20 hours per week with a salary of £13,218.40

The rota will include a mixture of early and late shifts, along with:

  • 1:5 Saturdays
  • 1–2 bank holidays per year

Flexibility is important, given the nature of a busy 24-hour hospital.

Our reception team are a hugely valued part of the hospital. You’re often the first person our clients see or speak to, so making a great first impression really does start with you.

About your new role!

Working in a busy 24-hour hospital, no two days are quite the same.

The role involves a high level of face-to-face contact with clients, alongside plenty of telephone and written communication. We’re looking for someone with the confidence, empathy and experience to provide a warm, professional and personal service, even when things get busy.

You’ll work closely with our clinical teams to make sure our clients feel supported, well informed and looked after throughout their pet’s journey with us.

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you’ll be responsible for a varied range of duties, including:

  • Welcoming clients and providing a warm and professional first point of contact.
  • Managing telephone and written enquiries with care and professionalism.
  • Booking appointments and referral consultations in line with hospital procedures.
  • Liaising with clinical teams regarding consultation times and keeping clients updated about any delays.
  • Offering appropriate nurse clinics and preventative healthcare services to clients.
  • Maintaining accurate records of conversations with clients regarding fees and patient care.
  • Processing payments and ensuring cashing up and other financial processes are completed accurately.
  • Processing insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
  • Managing client food orders and ensuring these are correctly received and stored.
  • Supporting debt control measures where required.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider hospital team to ensure clients receive accurate and timely information.

There’s also a lot of communication happening behind the scenes, so being organised, calm under pressure and comfortable juggling several things at once is really important.

What are we looking for?

We’re ideally looking for someone with previous reception experience within a veterinary or healthcare setting, although the most important thing is that you genuinely enjoy working with people and have excellent customer service skills.

You’ll need to be:

  • Confident and friendly when dealing with clients.
  • Empathetic and able to handle sensitive conversations.
  • Comfortable working in a busy hospital environment.
  • Organised, reliable and able to prioritise.
  • Confident communicating face-to-face, over the phone and in writing.
  • A team player who enjoys working alongside both clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
  • Flexible and willing to work a mixture of early and late shifts.

Due to the nature of a 24-hour hospital, we do ask for a degree of flexibility around the rota.

Now let's get to the nitty gritty...

The salary for this role is £13,218.40

As a Mandeville colleague, you’ll also receive:
