In the heart of one of London’s best-kept secret neighbourhoods in South London is our Kennington practice that has gone from strength to strength over the years, and they are looking for a second veterinary surgeon to help support their busy GP caseload.
This role can offer flexibility between 30-40 hours per week, if full-time this would involve alternating Mondays and Fridays off, and is inclusive of a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota’d to 1 to 2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion Hospital. There are NO on-call requirements for this role.
Kennington is a fast-paced clinic, that would suit a vet who is no stranger to a busy environment and can work independently and competently manage any emergency cases as well as a large GP caseload. Kennington is equipped with everything you would need, including ultrasound facilities, ideal for a vet with a keen interest in diagnostic imaging.
Kennington are looking for a vet who can multitask and communicate efficiently, as the practice spans over 2 floors…you will get your daily steps in here! You will be fully supported by a senior vet, senior RVN, incredible trainee nurses, regional manager and regional head vet.
As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:

- Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate, comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
- Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
Your clients and patients are supported by Stone Lion 24-hour Hospital who provide integral OOH support when Kennington is closed, or if they need to be referred for more advanced treatment.
As part of your induction, you will spend a day with the hospital team, to ensure you are ready for your first Sunday shift and know how the internal referrals are dealt with.
