We are recruiting for an additional veterinary surgeon to join our Ewell practice on a part-time 2-day week basis, supporting a busy and growing caseload alongside an experienced clinical team. Ewell is a historic suburban village in Surrey, situated just 12 miles from Central London.
About your new role!
Ewell is a beautifully designed clinic with an open-span prep area, walk-in kennels and a large reception area for clients. The practice is a busy GP setting with a growing caseload and a large client base.
You will work alongside an experienced senior vet, a senior RVN, RVNs and trainee nurses two days per week covering the following shifts:
Tuesday 10:0am – 19:00pm
Wednesday 8:30am – 17:30pm
1:4 Branch Saturday 8:00am – 16:00pm
1:10 Sunday at Stone Lion Hospital
1 Bank holiday
As an associate vet, you will be involved in the day-to-day GP caseload, including consultations and routine surgeries. The practice is equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound facilities on site.
As a branch vet some of your duties will include:
- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations based on best practice, evidence and GVG protocols.
- Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within the boundaries of personal competence and the limitation of overnight care.
- Maintain, prescribe and dispense medications in accordance with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes, ensuring pets’ histories are comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, where a case cannot be undertaken for any reason.
- Help maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
You will be fully supported by our experienced regional manager, as well as a regional head vet for any clinical management support you may need.
You will also be supported by the Stone Lion 24-hour hospital in Wimbledon for referral of more complex cases, with its own rotating night team providing your patients with invaluable out-of-hours care.
The practice has multiple local train stations nearby and is within easy reach of desirable parts of London such as Richmond and Wimbledon. London Gatwick Airport is also just a 30-minute drive from the practice.
What’s on offer
The salary band for this role is £42,000 to £67,000 FTE, depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth in the role.
