We respect the need for a work life balance, especially within the veterinary industry and we have created a part-time role for a veterinary surgeon looking for 2 days per week in Acton. However, if you were looking for full-time we have the option for a split role between Acton and Uxbridge.
You will be working alongside a senior vet on one of your days conducting consultations, performing routine surgeries and triaging any emergencies that may arise. You have a fantastic established nursing team including experienced RVNs for your go to support! This GP first opinion role involves working Mondays and Tuesdays plus a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation, plus 1 bank holiday per year. If you wished to combine this into a full-time role, we are looking for an additional second vet in our Uxbridge practice on Thursdays and Fridays, working alongside their fantastic senior vet Triona and established nursing team.
The Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Acton and Wembley. This impressive hospital has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, excellent ultrasound facilities, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists, so your patients will be well looked after if they needed more advanced treatment, or an overnight stay.
As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:
- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
- Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
- Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
- Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
- Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason.
- Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
Our associate vet salary band is £45,000 to £72,000 FTE (based on 40 hours per week) dependent on prior experience and allowing room for further growth and personal progression within the role.
6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata if part-time) - Generous relocation assistance (where applicable) - Up to £2,000 CPD budget every year plus up to 5 days' paid CPD leave (pro rata if part-time) - Private Medical Healthcare Insurance with Bupa.
