Goddard Recruitment are a specialist education recruitment agency supporting schools across Leeds and the surrounding areas. We are currently recruiting experienced School Business Managers to support schools on a temporary, interim basis, providing cover during interim periods such as absences, vacancies or transitional phases. These roles arise periodically throughout the academic year, with immediate starts often available.
As a School Business Manager, you will provide essential operational and strategic support to schools during interim periods. Depending on the school's needs and your experience or preference, the role may involve full School Business Manager responsibilities or focus on specific areas such as Finance, HR or Health & Safety. This role would be particularly well suited to former or semi-retired School Business Managers who are looking to keep a hand in the education sector on a flexible, interim basis.
Key Responsibilities (Duties will vary depending on assignment and specialism):
- Managing school finances, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
- Providing HR support including staffing, contracts, payroll liaison and absence management
- Overseeing health & safety compliance, risk assessments and statutory checks
- Managing premises, contracts, procurement and service providers
- Supporting the Headteacher and senior leadership team with operational and strategic matters
- Ensuring compliance with local authority, trust and audit requirements
- Line-managing administrative and support staff where required
About You
- Proven experience as a School Business Manager or in a senior school operations role
- Strong background in Finance, HR and/or Health & Safety within an education setting
- Ability to step into schools quickly and provide effective interim support
- Confident, adaptable and able to work independently
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
