Goddard Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a primary school for a knowledgeable and organised part time Health & Safety Compliance Officer to support the school in meeting statutory health and safety requirements. Working closely with the Headteacher, School Business Manager and site staff, the postholder will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing and supporting compliance with health & safety legislation, policies and procedures across the school. The role will involve carrying out inspections, supporting risk assessments, maintaining records and providing advice and guidance to staff. The role is 15hrs per week, with flexibility on days/hours worked.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and supporting compliance with health & safety legislation and school policies
- Carrying out site inspections, audits and safety checks
- Supporting the completion and review of risk assessments and action plans
- Investigating incidents and near misses and maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with external agencies, contractors and local authority services where required
The successful applicant will:
- Have experience in a health & safety or compliance role (ideally within an education or public sector setting)
- Have a good working knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice
- Be organised, detail-focused and confident working independently
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to advise and support staff
